ASPAC 2010 – Share, learn, grow, together

ASPAC 2010 promises to be a stimulating and exciting conference. Offering tangible and practical sharing, learning and growth to delegates, ASPAC 2010 seeks to truly add value and to grow the capacity of the Science Centre community in the Asia Pacific region.

Based in the South of the South Island of New Zealand, the conference programme gives delegates opportunities to enjoy the very best of Dunedin, Otago and Queenstown– ‘Lord of the Rings’ country. With the conference beginning in Dunedin and finishing in Queenstown, delegates may also choose to spend time before or after the conference independently exploring the spectacular South – or indeed the rest of New Zealand.

The theme– Share, learn, grow, together – and the programme have been designed to harness the talents and collective wealth of experience and knowledge from within ASPAC members and staff at various levels and various stages in their careers. With a focus on cross fertilisation of ideas and expertise, ASPAC 2010 will offer a true forum for interchange.

The Otago Museum is your conference host. We are a community-focused, award-winning museum, which is also home to Discovery World, our interactive science centre. The Discovery World experience includes a multi-level rainforest-like ecosystem – home to hundreds of free roaming butterflies and other living creatures.

ASPAC 2010 draws together the annual gatherings of ASPAC, ASTEN (the Australasian Science and Technology Exhibitors Network) and ASTC(NZ) (the Association of Science and Technology Centres, New Zealand) into one ultimate conference. It’s an absolute don’t miss – so see you there!

The ASPAC 2010 twist draws on several elements to draw together the essence of ASPAC 2010.

SOUTHERN TREASURE: The twist’s colours and shape evoke pounamu, or New Zealand jade – a special treasure of the South.

FRIENDSHIP: The twist is drawn from a popular shape for pounamu pendants – the infinity symbol, representing ongoing friendship.

INTERTWINING: ASPAC 2010 seeks to facilitate sharing of the collective knowledge of the Asia Pacific Science Centre community and experience, drawing on each other for inspiration and ideas.

GROWTH: Like living plants, ASPAC 2010 delegates will have the opportunity to grow, cross fertilise, and extend out our tendrils to each other.
