Science Communicators

If you are a Science Communicator, this conference offers YOU a special opportunity to perform your best science show live on stage in front of your peers at the conference and the Otago community at the Museum’s annual community concert event.

You need to bring your own props with you wherever possible. If you can’t, email us at aspac2010@otagomuseum.govt.nz and we’ll try to help you if we can!

Following the performances there will be a Forum session for all Science Communicators together to network and discuss issues pertinent to your craft. Your host for this forum will be Amos Mann, Otago Museum Discovery World’s most experienced Science Communicator and exhibit and show concept developer. Amos welcomes and looks forward to meeting you all.

We encourage you to take up this special opportunity for Science Communicators within ASPAC 2010!

When you register for the conference please be sure to tick the option to present your science show at the community concert. We’ll then be in touch with you for details.

The ASPAC 2010 twist draws on several elements to draw together the essence of ASPAC 2010.

SOUTHERN TREASURE: The twist’s colours and shape evoke pounamu, or New Zealand jade – a special treasure of the South.

FRIENDSHIP: The twist is drawn from a popular shape for pounamu pendants – the infinity symbol, representing ongoing friendship.

INTERTWINING: ASPAC 2010 seeks to facilitate sharing of the collective knowledge of the Asia Pacific Science Centre community and experience, drawing on each other for inspiration and ideas.

GROWTH: Like living plants, ASPAC 2010 delegates will have the opportunity to grow, cross fertilise, and extend out our tendrils to each other.
