Immersive community engagement opportunity

Otago Community Concert, Sunday 21 March 2010

An additional treat just before ASPAC 2010 begins! Join with the Otago community in an Otago Museum event – a concert that celebrates the anniversary of Otago. The 2010 Otago Community Concert is a great opportunity for ASPAC delegates take part in community life in Otago. Come celebrate with us!

Held outside on the Museum Reserve, in front of the Otago Museum’s main entrance, the concert is a vibrant community event, featuring local talents aplenty. Musicians, bands, dancers, science shows and more will entertain throughout the day. A festival atmosphere, with candy floss, fun activities, face-painting and market stalls, draws families in our community to make a day of it. Concert-goers are encouraged to picnic on the Museum Reserve with friends and families.

We hope you will join with us and our community in this special celebration.

The ASPAC 2010 twist draws on several elements to draw together the essence of ASPAC 2010.

SOUTHERN TREASURE: The twist’s colours and shape evoke pounamu, or New Zealand jade – a special treasure of the South.

FRIENDSHIP: The twist is drawn from a popular shape for pounamu pendants – the infinity symbol, representing ongoing friendship.

INTERTWINING: ASPAC 2010 seeks to facilitate sharing of the collective knowledge of the Asia Pacific Science Centre community and experience, drawing on each other for inspiration and ideas.

GROWTH: Like living plants, ASPAC 2010 delegates will have the opportunity to grow, cross fertilise, and extend out our tendrils to each other.
