Share, learn, grow, together

As science centres and museums we have a significant role to play in adding value for our communities. We can make a difference by encouraging curiosity, developing understanding, fostering positive attitudes towards science, and enhancing the knowledge base of visitors of all ages.

ASPAC is an extraordinary group of committed science centre professionals in the Asia Pacific region. The collective wealth of experience and knowledge that ASPAC members hold offers valuable opportunities for sharing, learning, and growth.

The 2010 Conference theme is designed to harness the talents and experiences from within our membership. It puts continuous improvement and capacity building at centre stage. Focusing on real examples over theoretical discussion, the Conference Theme and Programme encourage sharing of experience, ideas and expertise.

This conference will draw on the knowledge and experience of the wide variety of members and staff at various levels. It is designed to encourage cross-fertilisation and discovery from within.

ASPAC 2010 – come share, learn and grow together.

Sub themes:

  • Visitor experience
  • Exhibition development
  • Growing our people

The Conference Programme will allow delegates to select the sub-theme most relevant to them and stream their Conference experience around it – while still keying into other sub-themes via keynotes and parallel sessions.

The ASPAC 2010 twist draws on several elements to draw together the essence of ASPAC 2010.

SOUTHERN TREASURE: The twist’s colours and shape evoke pounamu, or New Zealand jade – a special treasure of the South.

FRIENDSHIP: The twist is drawn from a popular shape for pounamu pendants – the infinity symbol, representing ongoing friendship.

INTERTWINING: ASPAC 2010 seeks to facilitate sharing of the collective knowledge of the Asia Pacific Science Centre community and experience, drawing on each other for inspiration and ideas.

GROWTH: Like living plants, ASPAC 2010 delegates will have the opportunity to grow, cross fertilise, and extend out our tendrils to each other.
